Today is a special day around these parts.

It’s Luke’s birthday!  And he gets….rum balls?

Well, we were going to go out tonight to celebrate, but his birthday just so happens to coincide with his 10th middle school reunion.  Yes, you read that correctly, his middle school reunion.  So that’s where we’ll be tonight.  This is going to be interesting.

Anyway, I’ll be making him a cake over the weekend.  He’s asked for carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, so that’s nothing new for this blog.  Some people just don’t have any imagination for new birthday desserts….

Maybe I’ll top the cake with a couple of these babies to make it a little more interesting.

These are the result of a few ingredients that needed a good home: candied walnuts, the last dregs of a bottle of spiced rum and a half empty jar of peanut butter.

Need a little pick me up this weekend?  I know we sure will as we dive head first into packing.

Have a good one!
